Antique Chinese Gilt-Painted Red Lacquer Chest with Carved Base. This beautiful cabinet is gilt-painted with vessels holding lotus and peony flower on each of the door with some of the paintings faded. It is constructed with a Si-Ping (Flushed-Corner) style joinery. It's carved base with pomegrante design elevates the chest with a more elegant presentation style. Inside of the chest has an original shelf for storing objects. This chest, after all the years, still retains its beauitful original red lacquer color. The circulkar brass plates have been replaced. This chest makes a wonderful presentation for a space with a touch of sophistication. Late 19-early 20th century.
