It almost offers an organic look to the work. This painting is likely an adaption from an old Chinese tale where a kneeling general presenting a vessel or container to a princess with noble status wearing a pheonix head ornament, who has a wine cup in her hand. The old pieces like this one often have much simpler design against the rusted old mirror as time passed by. However, the old colors are still strikingly vivid. This colorful painting depicts Shou-Lao (Longevity God) with a long and bold forehead, holding a can carved with dragon head, with a rolled up scroll tied to the can, who gave the young boy a longevity peach, while a longevity deer peaking out from the old man's back. The old man also carries a wine gourd. There is a small butterfly above the boy, witnessing the gesture or movement. All the symbols in this painting are tied to Daoism and are used often separately or together with many art pieces associated with Daoism. So, this is a very special and rare piece. Pair of Qing Dynasty Porcelain Jars, Poly-Chrome Glaze with Double-Happiness Character in beautiful turquoise, light yellow, spring green, pink, and orange color, with auspicious peony flower on branch, bats (hovering and underneath the "Double-Happiness character), and others. Such jars might have been created fro festive occasion such as wedding. The lids were gone and new lids have been created. This pair of antique jars might not have originally been a pair, but is sold as a pair as they both have unusual light turquoise color. One minor old crack on the rim of one jar and other not too noticeable old chip that are hard to see. The bottom of both jars bears government's antique wax seal. One bottom appeared to have been re-glazed as this is not unusual for some old Chinese porcelain jars or vases to prolong their life span. Possibly from 18-19th century, compared to other early 20th century or reproduced pieces. Dimensions for each jar approximately 8 1/4" x 8 1/4" x 9 1/8" H

This beautiful carrying style antique box with carrying metal loops is very well constructed and has some wears and patina on the leather, but still in very good condition. The brass latch for closure has been replaced. Inside there is a constructed holder, for holding the hat, in an auspicious cut-out design of a coin embedded with the meaning of prosperity and wealth. This structure keeps the hat from moving around. All made of thick leather only, possibly cow leather from northern China. Its vivid red color composed of precious organic red color pigment from mineral is still so striking after over 100 years!
