Antique Lacquered Open Style Willow Woven Basket. this early 20th century willow woven basket still retains such excellent color and lacquer finish! its thick lacquer is composed of many layers of wet-sanding hand-sanded lacquer finish to eventually build up a lasting thick layer for the durability of the basket for a lifetime use. The bright red color came from organic mineral compound. Antique Larger Size Lacquered Paper Mache Wine Jar with Double Spouts. Lids are remade. Applying lacquer to the surface of woodwork or art objects has a long history in Chinese art. It supposedly goes back to as long as almost seven thousand years ago when unearthed ware was found in China to have bore lacquer color! This ancient technique of using lacquer to hold food or liquid is still being produced today in China in many types of objects for various purposes, such as preventing water from damaging the objects, prolonging the durability of objects produced (such as on woodwork), and also to enhance the artistic appearance of the objects. This lacquered wine jar with many layers of paper mache work which formed its body as a vessel has an unique appeal for its texture and aged surface. One can use it as a flower vase with a small glass tube insert, or simply appreciate its artistic sculptural quality as an art object. Early 20th century. Dimensions: 12" L x 4" W x 7 1/4" H

Very unusual old snuff bottle made of Peking glass in dark yellow color with raised carving of four carps swimming among lotus plants on one side. The other side is carved into the bottle with two carps and two catfish on the top with two poetic calligraphy phrases depicting the festive image in a Daoist theme. No lid. Possibly Early 20th century. "Peking glass" was a popular material used a lot for snuff bottle. It is actually composed of minerals from the mine that was said to have long been shut down by the Chinese government years ago. This unusual dark yellow color might have suggested that the artisan was trying to imitate the precious yellow Shou-Shan stone Tian-Huang （田黃). Such use of this material to imitate a more precious stone or simply another material was a common trend for the artisans then to compete in their skill and showed off the finished product as an art object. The other side has intricate openwork with blossoms on a long wavy branch. A nail cover was used to cover a long nail from breaking easily and was a symbol of status way back then. Vintage lamp made with Old Cloisonne Vase. The cloisonne vase which is in good condition has a nice shape and good patina on the copper rim and is likely from the earlier part of the 20th century. However, the bottom carved wood stand is broken on the edges but stand well. Sold as is with a like blush lamp shade that matches the color of the luscious peony flowers. The lamp works fine. Dimensions: 8 1/4" Diameter x 15 1/4" H (from base to vase top), 26" H to the top of the shade.

Antique Large Tall Round Red Lacquer Wooden Tub with Carved Lid. This wooden tub came frm the Ningbo/Shanghai area. It still retains the best vibrant orignal red color made from the organic mineral. The simple but beautiful carving with stylized floral design on the lid makes it most unusual among the same type as most of same tubs do not come with a carved lid. Mostly, it still is in a prime condition without furtherly being refinished. Thus, makes its red pigment so beautiful and stand out! Over 100 years old. Dimensions: Top is 17" in Diameter (12" Diameter bottom) with an 18" Height.

Antique Chinese Carved Bamboo Brush Holder with Landscape and Calligraphy. This holder is carved in a relieved style carving. One side of the holder is carved with detailed carving showing a vast mountainous landscape with tall mountains with pine trees, architectures, a bridge over water, and an elderly scholar walking on the bridge. On the other side, it is carved with a tall rock with a poem carved in nice calligraphy on it. Although it is an old piece, the bamboo had been stained to look darker. Some small weather cracks. 19th century or early 20th century. Dimensions: 3 3/4" Diameter x 10" H
