Antique Henan style Hei-Yuo Glazed Porcelain Pillow with A Rare Fish Cutout Design. This pillow is gracefully glazed with a translucent dark glaze with bits of oxidized brown and blue hue. Its cutout work is well executed in a straight forward manner with determined lines, forming a rare and charming design resembling that of a fish and seagrass. Age is undetermined, possibly from the 17-18th century. Henan Hei-Yuo glaze is most often seen in small tea bowls, as well as pillows, and larger size utilitarian jars. Wares with this glaze can be dated back to Song and Tang dynasties.
