Pair of good antique carved hardwood side chairs with replaced rattan hard seat. The back rests are intricately carved with chrysanthemum, plum blossom, and a Chilin mythical animal biting a sword looking back. This pair of chairs are part of a set of four chairs. Only two chairs are available.

A Chilin is a mythical animal, half dragon and half horse. It is said to be able to travel thousand miles a day. So, it has been used as an auspicious symbol for men to succeed in career. However, a Chilin turning its head to look back symbolizes looking after a home.
