Large Square Coffee Table Inlaid with Rare Antique Latticework with Ming Style Floral Motif, FP Dark wood color. Comes with a thick glass top.
The "four-petal" or "four-leaf" design has a long and interesting cultural background and dates back possibly to 13-14th century. Some also call this motif "Shi-Di", like that of the four small leaves that cover the top of a persimmon fruit. It is a motif often used on early Chinese architectural latticework, but a simple repeated pattern like this one without other patterns or carvings included in the composition can only occasionally be found. It is quite an elegant design!
