(清代帶紅漆北方皮帽盒) Very Rare Antique Chinese Pointed Style Leather Hat Box in Original Organic Red Pigment. This beautiful carrying style antique box with carrying metal loops is very well constructed and has some wears and patina on the leather, but still in very good condition. The brass latch for closure has been replaced. Inside there is a constructed holder, for holding the hat, in an auspicious cut-out design of a coin embedded with the meaning of prosperity and wealth. This structure keeps the hat from moving around. All made of thick leather only, possibly cow leather from northern China. Its vivid red color composed of precious organic red color pigment from mineral is still so striking after over 100 years! Such beautiful design and color sure to grace a space and to enhance one's beautiful collection of antique Chinese artifacts and home decoratives! 19th century.
