Set of Two Old Hand Woven Bamboo Round Baskets with Double-Happiness and longevity (inside) Motif. 20th Century.

Woven bamboo work like this started from hand-splitting the large long timber bamboo many times to small tiny threads and mesh that can be used in weaving. One can only imagine the amount of time, patience, and skill it took! Part of the bamboo threads were naturally dyed before being woven into the patterns and characters. We have several sets of this basket. Though these baskets are not quite antiques, the same work is likely not being produced now. These hand woven baskets were probably produced by the trade craftsman for the wedding occasions. All in excellent condition.
