Rare Antique Zhuo Wood Hardwood Ming Style Rectangular Stool with Bamboo Slats. This well structured single bamboo has great proportions and is solidly built with its dense hardwood. Few antique Ming Style furniture pieces made of Zhuo wood can be found. This stool came from the Jiang-zhe area where summer is hot and humid, thus, bamboo is a cooling material to use for the seating surface of a furniture piece. The design of the stool is simple with all the hand-carved lines well executed. The bamboo slats are set tightly in a wooden "floating-Frame". 19th century or older.
