    This early Qing Dynasty square stool with excellent styling and rounded construction is a beautiful example of early furniture pieces when all parts of the piece are hand made to the right proportions, with a simplistic design in style and strongly built with solid joinery that lasts for several hundred years and more. The unfinished wood surface has developed a subtle reddish hue in the blond wood that looks denser through time. One sees the well thought out design with all parts of the stool cohesively created in rounded shapes with the rounded legs which the Chinese in the trad call it "Round-wrapped-in-round (Yuan-Bao-Yuan)". all parts are substantially and elegantly built with an proportion that is appealing to the eyes. Older Chinese furniture pieces from the earlier period with a good styling and good build are becoming more scarce. 18th century. Dimensions: 17 1/4"x17 1/4"x18 3/4" H

    Rare Hardwood Table Screen with Old Black Lacquer. This table screen made of excellent dense hardwood looks like but is heavier than Bai-wood, Chinese cypress. It has beautiful delicate grain. The inserted thick old black lacquer might originally has some writing but is all gone. The screen frame sits on high-footed pedestals with well-carved simple minimized dragon head design on the top of the supporting vertical posts for the actual screen insert, with rounded horizontal supporting wood rod to stop the insert from falling out. The overall simple design of the screen stand/frame is the perfect match to showcase the beautiful wood alone. Such small screen was often used on a scholar's table to partially shield an area for the desk. One might place scholarly objects in front of the screen on the inside. For a Feng-Shui purpose, such screen might exclude unnecessary destruction and provide a mental tranquil space. From a modern interior decorating point of view, it shields an area and provides an intimate personal space. Partial repair on the frame apron. Refinished in lacquer finish.     Antique Chinese Carrying Style Chest with Drawers and Compartments Inside. This very heavy larger antique carrying chest/box is made of hardwood. It has some replacements of other wood and metal fitting as well. This chest contains four separate drawers with several distinct compartments inside three of the drawers. Such chest was probably made to cater the need for storing specific objects. The wood is incredibly heavy but hard to see what type of hardwood it is. The bottom of the drawers were made of elm or walnut, likely replaced. The Chest is painted in dark/black lacquer overall. 19 or early 20th century. Dimensions: 15 1/8" L x 11 1/8" W x 13 3/4" H

    This Antique Older Nan-Guan-Mao Style Armchair with traces of original black lacquer is possibly from the early-mid Qing period. The single splat back is carved with a wonderful Ruyi/ Ling-Zhi cutout design. All the wooden rails were hand-carved with an elegant rounded shape, corresponding to its proportions with a slightly more petite size as well. Some wooden posts and one leg have been replaced and touched up. This incredibly elegant armchair speaks a time of excellent craftsmanship and design in Chinese woodwork. Dimensions: 21 1/2" L x 17 1/2" X x 38 3/4" H (20 1/2" H from the seat to the floor)
