No metal nails were used but built with complex joinery, fitting all the parts from the inside of the woodwork. 120 years old or older. This Pair of Large Size Antique Chinese Gilt Red Lacquer Pigskin-Stretched Wooden wedding Trunks with Double-Happiness, Shou (Longevity), and Bat Motives are indeed elaborate and impressive! Made with precious and expensive organic color pigment and as part of a festive occasion such as a wedding, these beautiful red leather trunks are appliqued with cut motives of leather painted in guilt for decoration. They still retain the original large size old brass fitting. However, the one remaining original lock will likely need to be cut as the key is no longer available. There are various torn spots at the corners of the trunks and some stains on the inside leather. However, they are great collectible items as well as can be used as special storage for one's treasured items! Late 19-early 20th century. Sold as is and as a pair only. Large Size Antique Qing Dynasty Carved Round Red Lacquer Wash Stand with gilt carving of simple vegetation and old red lacquer made of organic mineral pigments. This well constructed and striking wash stand was part of a bride's dowry and held a brass or porcelain bowl containing water for the bride to clean her face. It's curved legs are well carved in a Qing style. In the middle, several crossed bars are constructed for holding the weight. On one side of the stand, the old red lacquer has faded and possibly re-touched up as well. Late 19-early 20th century. Sold as is. This stand can still be used as a wash stand or on an entryway to hold some beautiful plant, or by placing a glass top and use it as a small side table. This rare antique hand-made ceramic stand with a beautiful deep blue glaze and hand built bold floral design with an array of beautiful colors in cream, white, green, and brown glaze is stunning and is form the Qing Dynasty,possibly 18-19th century. It is solidly built and one very minor repair on the rim (shown in last detailed photo). This might have been used as a plant or flower stand with a pot placed on it. Though we have seen the somewhat modern look-alike Shiwan version of similar ceramic pot, an antique stand as exceptional as this one is extremely rare.
