This small apothecary chest with an unusual size and design has beautiful original black lacquer although the top had been stripped blond. Each drawer has divided compartments inside. Some were chewed by the mouse from storing the herbs. The surface of all the drawers was fitted with an original old Chinese coin as pull plate and an original old drawer pull. The writings of the herbal names are original writings. The edges of the top display area is carved with auspicious pomegranate design on all sides. This very heavy and unusual apoethecary chest makes a nice table top storage unit, whether for herbs or for storing other personal objects! 19th century. Dimensiosn: 20 5/8" L x 17 7/8" W x 25 3/4" H

This Wonderful Antique Carved Ming Style Lady's Small Chair with a lamp hanger style headrest is from the Ningbo area in China. The overall style of the chair is unique to the region. It has the original reddish brown lacquer color made from organic color pigments. This tastfully made and designed small chair is made of southern Chinese cypress. The single splat back is carved with two auspicious flying bats, while the cross spandrel under the seat is carved with an open key design with a stylized dragon in the center. Antique Chinese Gilt-Painted Red Lacquer Chest with Carved Base. This beautiful cabinet is gilt-painted with vessels holding lotus and peony flower on each of the door with some of the paintings faded. It is constructed with a Si-Ping (Flushed-Corner) style joinery. It's carved base with pomegrante design elevates the chest with a more elegant presentation style. Inside of the chest has an original shelf for storing objects. This chest, after all the years, still retains its beauitful original red lacquer color. The circulkar brass plates have been replaced. This Antique Northern Chinese Carved Lien-San Altar Cabinet made of Yu wood (northern Elm) has the original dark reddish brown lacquer with three drawers (lien-san) and a closed two doors with middle bar at the bottom. The long side spandrels are carved with a twined peony design. An altar chest like this was commonly used in a home as an altar table or side table/cabinet for extra surface space as well as storing items. Thsi cabinet is solidly built in the traditional Chinese joinery wothout any nails. It makes a great cabinet for an entryway, in a bedroom, or in a dining room as a sideboard cabinet next to a dining table! The brass fitting has been replaced. Early 10th century. Vintage 20th Century Red Lacquered Apothecary Chest with Drawers. This heavy tall herbal storage cabinet is constructed in the traditional style joinery with 26 drawers! The drawers are written with Chinese herbal names on the surface. One drawer is missing a name. Inside the drawers, there are also divided compartments. This cabinet is made of a combination of northern elm and other types of wood. Each drawer is fitted with a small rusted brass plate and pull. Such cabinet works well for modern living as it can allow organizing and storing many small items. The red lacquer is a warm orange red. The top and the sides of the cabinet are painted in black with some lacquer finish worn. This cabinet has some age, but was made during the 20th century. This 19th to early 20th century antique bamboo woven suitcase has a beautiful form with the top portion of the basket/ suitcase in a dome shape. The suitcase is constructed with finely split and woven bamboo mesh and further joined with broad bamboo bannds. It still retains the original old patina on the bamboo surface and the old lacuqer finish. It has beautiful original old brass plates with cutout design and hinges as well. One of the carrying side handles has replaced small inserting plates for the handle. The top of the lid contains finely woven patterns with two large characters of Fu (blessing) and Lu (wealth) and other smaller characters, floral, and Key design. While this type of old bamboo case can still be found in Zhejiang area in China, this one is an excellent example of its kind. Dimensions: 22" L x 15" W x 10" H

Impressive antique Chinese extra-tall cabinet from shanghai/Zhejiang area with altered doors and refitted antique latticework. Replaced new brass hinges and fittings. This cabinet with great storage capacity is created with two massive latticework sections with another bottom section with two doors. It has three drawers on the top and a row of hand-carved decoration at the bottom that is original to the cabinet. The sides of the cabinet also have latticework. Although the cabinet is created with several sections, it is one big cabinet, creating a towering look with its height and its wide use of latticework. Constructed in the shape of the traditional "Garden Stool" style, this unusual old Chinese Lacquered wooden stool is decorated with elegant floral design by carving into the thick layered black lacquer surface, leaving a desired relieved pattern inside the thick lacquer, then, finished again with thinner lacquer coating for the outside. This technique in lacquer work is called "Cut lacquer" or "Carved lacquer" which differs from carving on the wooden surface first and then finish the object with lacquer finish outside. This stool has been fully restored from its original much deteriorating condition, leaving traces of worn and used marks present. This stool is estimated to be from the early 20th century or older. Dimensions: 15" diameter x 19 1/4" H
