Small Antique Japanese Hibachi with Drawers and Copper Insert. This antique hibachi made of Japan's Keyaki wood with beautiful large grain is fitted with a glass top to use as a small or side coffee table by the previous owner. The wood grain is particularly large and beautiful on this one. On the sides, one also is pleasantly surprised to find two beautifully hand-carved and shaped wood handles. Some cracks in the wood, sold as is. Its compact size is nice and makes it easy to use in many spots. Meiji period. The center old copper insert was filled with burning coals at old days, while a hanging bamboo or wood stick suspended from the ceiling to the top of the hibachi carried a metal container with water or food to be heated or to keep warm. Dimensions: 26 5/8" x 13 1/8" x 14 3/4" H
