Wonderful Antique Japanese Blue-and-White Porcelain Calligrapher's Water Dropper with donuts shape. In excellent condition. Late 19-early 20th century.

A calligrapher or painter uses a water dropper to add more water to the ink bed when desires to grind more ink or to thin ink for different shades of strokes while doing calligraphy or brush painting.
