    This Antique Older Nan-Guan-Mao Style Armchair with traces of original black lacquer is possibly from the early-mid Qing period. The single splat back is carved with a wonderful Ruyi/ Ling-Zhi cutout design. All the wooden rails were hand-carved with an elegant rounded shape, corresponding to its proportions with a slightly more petite size as well. Some wooden posts and one leg have been replaced and touched up. This incredibly elegant armchair speaks a time of excellent craftsmanship and design in Chinese woodwork. Dimensions: 21 1/2" L x 17 1/2" X x 38 3/4" H (20 1/2" H from the seat to the floor)

    Good Antique Older Shandong Style Carved Coffer with Old Lacquer. This wonderful antique coffer has a deeper depth that makes it an ideal piece for a kitche isle or any space requiring a larger wlorkable surface. Made of northern Chinese elm, Yu wood, this coffer is beautifully carved with simpler motives, compared to many elaborately carved Shandong coffers, including triangular shaped half-floral motif with multiple petals at the face of the drawers, as well as a special Ming style motif of curved long grass or floral design tied in the middle. The carved long spandrels on the two sides are also carved with the similar curved floral and leaf design with flower buds, infused with cloud or ruyi like pattern that is similar to a stylized dragon. Some of the brass fitting has been replaced, otherwise, the coffer itself is in excellent condition as it still retains all the original aged lacquer finish at the front of coffer. The top has been worn and possibly lightly stripped as well to reveal the beautiful wood grain. The drawers are big and deep, great for storing objects. Possibly from the 18-19th century. Dimensions: 41 1/2" L x 28 1/4" D x 33 3/4" H

    Rare and Unusual Antique Official's Style Wooden Chest with Storage and Drawers Inside. Made of Bai wood (a type of cypress). The brass fitting has been replaced, and the front moveable covering wood board has also been replaced with northern elm. The inside of the chest contains a deep space for storage on the top section. Underneath, there are two drawers that are disguised with the covering board. Such chest was likely used to store important personl belongings. 19th century or older. Dimensions: 16 1/2" L x 10" W x 14 1/2" H

    This pair of armchairs with rounded-spindles is made of quality Ju wood with excellent original patina on the wood surface. Ju wood is a type of southern Chinese elm. Different from the more common northern Chinese elm, Ju wood is denser with more delicate grain since it came from the more tropical area, and is easily confused with the northern elm. Ju wood was a lumber often used in Chinese furniture pieces along the Jiang-Zhe area near Shanghai and Ningbo. Some of the Chinese furniture made of Ju wood have been dated to the Ming Dynasty. Ju wood furniture made in this period of time is no less refine than those made of more expensive Chinese hardwood such as Huanghuali from the same period of time. Ju wood furniture pieces from the 17th century period often embed the literati style with few examples could be found today. Chairs with spindle design with arms are less commonly seen than those made without the arms. These armchairs are generously made in size with good craftsmanship and sophisticated wooden joinery. The foot rests are nice and naturally worn. They make beautiful presentation in a home with its classical look. 18-19th century. Dimensions for each chair: 21 3/4" L x 17 5/8" W x 37 3/4" H

    The rich colors on this painted trunk derive from precious organic mineral compounds and vegetation. It is incredible to see that the colors remain so beautifully vivid and still in excellent condition after all the years. The raised painted lacquer work is commonly seen in some painted Tibetan furniture work, often with nice detail reflecting the devotion of painter in this time consuming pursue of its artistry. The scaled dragon is presented in a curled form circled by a shape with twelve petals. Its face is painted with wide open mouth, two horns on the head, and big eyes. Outside the twelve petal shape, the surface is decorated with painted stylized characters like that of Chinese of "double-happiness" and other commonly used Tibetan motives. The four corners of the trunk are painted with auspicious clouds as well as the four-petaled flowers on the bands, all painted in beautiful red, yellow, green, and other colors. The metal fittings on the lid have been replaced. Estimated to be from the 18-19th century. This trunk makes a focal point with its warm colors and bold dragon design that adds to the sophistication of a space. Dimensions: 43 7/8" L x 17" D x 21" H
