Pair of Antique Chinese Carved Window Screens with Figures from the Ziang-Zhe area. The openwork on the top is elaborately carved with figures in a courtyard and inside a pavilion enclosed in an eight-sided floral form, further circled in a round geometric shape, flanked by twined vegetation with flying insects. All carved with one piece of wood inserted into the outside frame. The bottom half is created with one separate square shape of wood inserted into an open frame in the middle of the design, also carved with figures in the courtyard scene as well. Outside the squared center, the surrounding area is carved with twined floral design on four separate pieces of wood and inserted to the outer broad frame. In unfinished good condition. Estimated to be 150 years old or so. sold and priced as a pair. Dimensions for each Panel: 14 3/8" W x 37" H x 1 1/4"D

The old pieces like this one often have much simpler design against the rusted old mirror as time passed by. However, the old colors are still strikingly vivid. This colorful painting depicts Shou-Lao (Longevity God) with a long and bold forehead, holding a can carved with dragon head, with a rolled up scroll tied to the can, who gave the young boy a longevity peach, while a longevity deer peaking out from the old man's back. The old man also carries a wine gourd. There is a small butterfly above the boy, witnessing the gesture or movement. All the symbols in this painting are tied to Daoism and are used often separately or together with many art pieces associated with Daoism. So, this is a very special and rare piece. Antique Carved Horizontal Wooden Architectural Panel with Latticework. This beautiful panel is hand-carved with intricate motives such as flower baskets (peace, harmony), temple vases with religious objects, jade or metal ornament with eternal knots, and four bats tied with ropes inside large medallions, all well executed in fine detail. In the middle is an empty space in an opened scroll design, together with the two large medallions, key shape latticework, and all the supporting small carvings forming the whole composition. This wooden work is in its original condition with traces of brown color pigment. Such panel with its precious intricate woodwork in a horizontal shape is rare and makes wonderful wall decoration or simply as part of a wonderful collection in Chinese woodwork. 150-250 years old. This piece is possibly part of an intricately carved architectural dwelling placed high on a wall structure. It serves both the needs for decoration and ventilation for an old residence. Such jars might have been created fro festive occasion such as wedding. The lids were gone and new lids have been created. This pair of antique jars might not have originally been a pair, but is sold as a pair as they both have unusual light turquoise color. One minor old crack on the rim of one jar and other not too noticeable old chip that are hard to see. The bottom of both jars bears government's antique wax seal. One bottom appeared to have been re-glazed as this is not unusual for some old Chinese porcelain jars or vases to prolong their life span.
