Set of Four Antique Chinese Architectural Wooden Screens Carved with Characters of Four Seasons. This narrower set of tall antique architectural screen doors has beautiful well-executed carvings with traces of organic color pigments in blue, gray, and some red. The carved motives include fine and deep-relieved rocks, mountains, trees,landscapes, vegetation, as well as temple and religious objects, flowers and plants, auspicious fruits, and key designs, all very lovely carved. In the middle of the carving on each door, a character of spring, summer, fall, and winter (reading from right to left on the photo) is carved in a raised medallion circle. Imagine these screens with full colors in its elaborate carving during the time when they were made! Such screens were probably the center pieces of a greater architectural wooden walls composed of more panels. Estimated to be from 150-250 years old. Slightly refinished in clear lacquer coatings over the existing patina and the organic pigments made of precious minerals and vegetation.
