Excellent Antique Larger Wooden Sugar Cane Press Made of Ju Wood with Beautiful Large Grain.
This slightly bigger wooden press is constructed with good Ju wood with a rare larger grain that probably derived from a several hundred years old Ju wood tree at the time when it was made. Such cut of Ju wood is uncommon for utilitarian wares. This press is built with a large single-board Ju wood platform with a carved center circle for placing the sectioned sugar cane. When pressed with the pressing stick which fits underneath the two-protruding shaped structure at one end that gives the stick a leverage when used, the juice comes out and flows through the circular "canal", through the spout, into a separately placed bucket underneath. An ancient juicing machine! In excellent, well-kept condition with old wood patina. This is among the best examples of sugar cane press we have ever seen! 19th century or early 20th century.
