This basket with a simple yet elegant design was part of a bride's dowry, possibly used to store small personal objects. its high and graceful handle makes it easy to carry around. this basket is made of Good southern Ju wood, hand-carved in sections of curved wood cuts and pegged with wood pegs in between the sections to join to form the body of the basket. Late 19-early 20th century.

Wooden objects with old red pigment made from the Organic mineral compound have long been treasured in the central coastal area in China near Ningbo, Shanghai and other cities, and can be found in several private museums.
