Description
This graceful antique 17-18th century Chinese Ming style clothing stand is made of the precious Golden-Thread-Nan-Mu wood (Jin-Si-Nan-Mu). Golden-Thread-Nan-Mu was mostly used in building imperial palaces and temples only during mIng Dynasty. The wood carries tiny golden specks with the delicate grain and sometimes with dramatic grain with large swaps of Dark color near the outer skin. This wood is said to be able to release a light fragrance in a humid climate with moisture and does not rot. Therefore, it was also used for coffins for the imperial family and later also for the most wealthy during early Qing period. Few antique Ming style furniture pieces made of this wood can be found. This piece has minor repair and replacement of wood.
