This Antique Older Nan-Guan-Mao Style Armchair with traces of original black lacquer is possibly from the early-mid Qing period. The single splat back is carved with a wonderful Ruyi/ Ling-Zhi cutout design. All the wooden rails were hand-carved with an elegant rounded shape, corresponding to its proportions with a slightly more petite size as well. Some wooden posts and one leg have been replaced and touched up. This incredibly elegant armchair speaks a time of excellent craftsmanship and design in Chinese woodwork.
