Pair of Antique Silk Embroidered Squares with Birds & Pomegranate. One of them with two birds, might be parrots, perching on the rocks in front of a pine tree, gaze into the far distance. The proportion of the birds, compared to the small tree, creates a surreal feeling for the composition. This is not unusual for the Chinese folk art to personify the objects in the art. The other one is a pomegranate which symbolizes prosperity with many off-springs with many seeds. The colors on these squares are lustrous and wonderful! These squares were used to sew onto the two sides of a filled silk pillow.
