Description
(明到清描金紅漆長方盒) This is a rather nice antique painted rectangular lacquer box with gilt painting over the more subtle and darker red lacquer. There are irregular crackled patterns all over the box. This older box, possibly can be dated to Ming, might have been partially re-painted with black brush strokes. Nevertheless, the colors are elegant and harmoniously put together. There are written calligraphy characters inside, possibly representing a person or a shop.
