Excellent Old Chinese Bamboo Bird Cage Hand-Carved with Elaborate Carvings and Fittings, possibly from the Earlier part of the 20th century.

This beautiful and interesting old bird cage is carved with various dragon designs as well as phoenix birds and other small birds. It is fitted with painted porcelain bird feeders and some very interesting small sharp metal tools possibly for the birds to sharpen their beaks? The top is fitted with a brass hanger also elaborately decorated with squirrels and a perching bird. The curved bands that connect the cage to the metal hanger on top is made of a special dark purple bamboo, also beautifully hand carved with pattern, with a center post that looks like might have been made of the same dark bamboo or a dark Zitan type of hardwood. The material of the white disc is unknown. This is truly a very unusual, a wonderful and very special bird cage!
