Rare excellent antique small size Ming Style Ju-wood trunk with base and cased in old brass on all sides; with original thick old reddish brown lacquer made of organic colore pigment.
Ju wood was among leading wood types in China for making Ming style southern Chinese furniture. It takes many years to grow to a usable size tree. Ju wood furniture pieces can be dated to 17th century or later.
The use of good brass is often an indication of the manner in creating a good piece of furniture to both last and to give an impressive presence.
