Description
This rare antique massive size Northern Yu wood trunk is painted with a very rare, possibly "A Hundred Boys", scene in gilt and silver over the original dark reddish brown lacquer, including figures and many boys engaging in different activities on a river, in the boats and pavilions, all painted in early style. The sides are painted in gilt with elaborate peony and long-tailed bird. With original old brass front plates with minor replacements of back plates for the side handles. Parts of the front painting are faded.
150 to 250 years old.
