Pair of Rare Antique Tall Blue and White Melon Jars w/Double Happiness Motif from the early-mid 19th century. One lid is original, while another has been replaced with a similar shape antique lid.
These taller melon jars are painted with a rare Ruyi (to-your-wish) apron design around the rim. The body of the jars are in good condition. During the late Qing Dynasty, seven pairs of blue-and-white porcelains in a variety shapes and usages, all decorated with the auspicious wedding symbols "Double-Happiness" character, were made and given to the bride as part of her dowry to be used at her new home.
