Repainted Antique Northern Chinese Carrying Style Wooden Chest with iron and old Chinese coin for fitting, repainted with a prosperous symbol of a young boy holding a peony flower branch as well as two lines of a couplet with calligraphy depicting the accumulation of wealth and treasures coming in from all directions and from all seasons. So, this might suggest that someone had used this box to store valuable items. This box made of northern elm wood might have come from the late 19-early 20th century period. Partial hardware missing. All the wood surfaces have recently been refinished to a silky smooth touch.
