Description
Vintage Fujian Style Lacquered Bamboo Woven Basket with Lid and Gilt Painting. This striking black-and-red painted basket was used for a festive occasion and is in excellent condition with all the thick lacquer application and woven bamboo mesh. The lid is painted with a repeated and combined Ru-Yi (to-your-wish) and pomegranate (fertility; prosperity) design with auspicious bird, bamboo, and vegetation painted in gilt. 20th century.
