Rare Antique Chinese Root Carving of A Walking Stick with Dragon and original dark lacquer from Qing Dynasty. Some repairs.

Art objects carved out of root has long been sought after, yet few antique or old pieces are available other than the reproduced ones. An artist takes a selected root section, observe it for a long time to determine what form or object can take shape with minimum manmade work to preserve the original flavor the nature offers. This walking stick is created with its natural shape from a section of twisted root branch with many knobs. The dragon head cleverly uses a larger knob of the branch where it splits in growth as well as having some small spikes growing out of the knob. The effect is quite lovely and impressive.
