This Antique Carved Ming Style Single-Drawer Coffer with Floral Design made of a mixture of northern Chinese wood including Chinese walnut hardwood is constructed with all rounded corners and edges which provides an appealing visual aesthetics in comfort. A table like coffer is a common feature in old Chinese household, especially in the north, which provides extra tabletop space for all kinds of functions and is sometimes used as an altar table as well. The folk looking carved floral designs include plum blossom, chrysanthemum, and another four-petal flower. It has nicely shaped spandrels in floral design as well. Good patina and wood. Over 150 years old.
