Very Rare Smaller Size Antique Ming Style Bai Wood Altar Table, estimated to be from the 16-17th century. This beautiful piece constructed with the perfect proportions with its beautiful design and dense silky wood came from the "golden era" of Ming Dynasty with Chinese furniture created with exceptional design, excellent joinery, often with internal complexity in structure, and a variety of rare and good wood. This piece, though with one of its legs at the back looks to have been replaced at one point, is made of southern Bai wood, a rarer type of southern Chinese cypress with a dense and silky feel when polished. This wood has a very delicate tight grain that is easily missed by the eye. It is among Chinese best wood types outside of the Rosewood hardwood family. Furniture pieces made of this wood have been dated to the Ming period when carrying the most exceptional design element, yet few examples from this period can be found or available. This piece was part of our Special Collection. Please inquire about the price for this piece.
