A large size 17th century hand-carved Chinese architectural fragment with an unusual design combining a coin motif with a Ming style sun flower motif. Floral motif with a front-facing opening position in full blossom can be found in the 17th century Chinese architectural wooden work and 17th century Chinese furniture pieces from Central China and Northern China , as well as in 17th century clay roof-tile decoration. Coin motif was used as an auspicious symbol to bring "plentifulness" or "wealth" to a household.
