Description
A pair of 17-18th century tall antique Chinese carved lattice screen doors newly fitted with matte glass panels at the back. Imagine a room with butterfly, martial art figures, and light through these lattice screen doors! Dimensions are approximately 23 5/8” W x 88 1/8” H x 2 1/8” D for each panel.

The butterfly motif is seen more often in traditional Chinese brush painting and porcelain ware. Occasionally, we see this motif in Chinese woodwork. In Daoism, butterfly is poetically compared to the unpredictable of life like that of a dream. In Chinese culture, in general, butterfly is associated with beautiful things and fine marriage. In some traditional Chinese art forms, such as painting and porcelain, butterfly is often paired with cat, harmoniously existing in a beautiful landscape, as a symbol of longevity.
