Very Rare Antique Chinese Wooden Bucket with Liu-Li Bead on the Lid. Liu-Li is a special material material that came from a closed mine in China and is no longer avaialble. It is often referred to as "Peking glass". This material was also used in soem of the ancient rooftile pieces, especially in the blue glaze. Such material was likely rare and expensive during ancient China and only lucrative families could obtain such decorative material to use in the household objects. Bucket like this was often carved with pieces broader wood bands and further pegged in between the wooden bands before securing with brass metal bands outside. The lid has been repaired, othwerwise in good condition with old lacquer and patina. The bucket is fitted with the original old brass fitting as well. Late 19-early 20th century.
