Antique Chinese Embroidered Silk Fragment with Auspicious Motif of vase and bowls with peony flower and other vegetation in stunning and beautiful array of colors. There is a crane near the center vase, looking back to the big vase with the flowering peony. A vase containing flowers, often peony, is a common Chinese art motif, symbolizing peace and harmony, often used to bless a home. Crane is a symbol of longevity and is regarded as a symbol of peace as well. On the very top, there is also a small double-diamond shaped object with tassel. This motif derived from the shape of woman's hair pin and is used a lot in Chinese woodwork and other art forms as an auspicious motif for a harmonious relationship among people whether a couple, a friendship, or even among business relationship. the embroidery is from the 19th century.
