Excellent Antique Lacquered Bamboo Woven Chest with Old metal Fitting. This beautiful antique bamboo chest has a shallow tray on the top inside. The chest is composed of a broad bamboo frame with supporting posts to support sheets of bamboo mesh as the body of the chest. Small knotted fine woven bamboo strips and lines are present to make the chest more durable. It has beautiful patina over its old thick dark lacquer that protects the bamboo from fast wearing, showing the original maker's intention for the object to last for a long time to come. This basket has two metal handles on the side for easy-carrying around. it is a sweet personal size for daily use. 19th century.
