（清代榆木枕盒）One photo here shows an inside view of an antique northern Chinese pillow box made of northern elm （榆木, Yu Mu). Mu is Wood (木). This pillow box has a perfectly shaped dome lid (see other photo) with a wood attachment for slat inside for storing additional items such as important paper work. The small wood panel is carved with three coins in a cut-out design that is very appropriate for the purpose of this pillow box- to store valuable items. The inside of the box is also missing a shallow wood tray above the wooden supports. Some of the fitting such as the iron carrying pulls on the side are fitted with old Chinese brass coins that are now rusted and hard to read. The original dark brown lacquer and old iron fitting suggest that this northern Chinese box came form more inland area in the north such as Shanxi, Shaanxi, or areas near the northern border.

The dimensions of this box are 16 1/4” L x 7 1/8” W x 6 7/8 H”.
