This very heavy and elegantly shaped antique wooden round stool has an interesting design with four curved leg-supporting cross bars in the middle that look like two pairs of fish or leaves. The four legs are each carved with an unusual long string of bell shaped flowers hanging down from a Ruyi frame. This stool is generously built with a very heavy wood and broad aprons beneath the single-board top. The carved animal shaped feet flare out at the bottom. From the underneath, it appeared that this stool was once partially repaired and joined with metal to secure it rather than by appropriate woven palm fiber and wood, possibly due to its heavy use. 19th century.
