Rare Hardwood Table Screen with Old Black Lacquer. This table screen made of excellent dense hardwood looks like but is heavier than Bai-wood, Chinese cypress. It has beautiful delicate grain. The inserted thick old black lacquer might originally has some writing but is all gone. The screen frame sits on high-footed pedestals with well-carved simple minimized dragon head design on the top of the supporting vertical posts for the actual screen insert, with rounded horizontal supporting wood rod to stop the insert from falling out. The overall simple design of the screen stand/frame is the perfect match to showcase the beautiful wood alone. Such small screen was often used on a scholar's table to partially shield an area for the desk. One might place scholarly objects in front of the screen on the inside. For a Feng-Shui purpose, such screen might exclude unnecessary destruction and provide a mental tranquil space. From a modern interior decorating point of view, it shields an area and provides an intimate personal space. Partial repair on the frame apron. Refinished in lacquer finish. Possibly from 17-18th century. Dimensions: 17" L x 9 1/2" W x26 1/2" H

Excellent Antique Larger Wooden Sugar Cane Press Made of Ju Wood with Beautiful Large Grain. This slightly bigger wooden press is constructed with good Ju wood with a rare larger grain that probably derived from a several hundred years old Ju wood tree at the time when it was made. Such cut of Ju wood is uncommon for utilitarian wares. This press is built with a large single-board Ju wood platform with a carved center circle for placing the sectioned sugar cane. When pressed with the pressing stick which fits underneath the two-protruding shaped structure at one end that gives the stick a leverage when used, the juice comes out and flows through the circular "canal", through the spout, into a separately placed bucket underneath. An ancient juicing machine! In excellent, well-kept condition with old wood patina. This is among the best examples of sugar cane press we have ever seen! 19th century or early 20th century. Antique Chinese Wooden Wine Storage Barrel with Bamboo Bands. This wine storage barrel is beautifully refinished in lighter wood color with soft lacquer layer on the surface. Like many other old Chinese wooden buckets and barrels, it is hand-carved in curved wooden sections and joined together with wooden pegs in between before applying the woven bamboo bands outside to further secure it. Antique Ningbo Style Red Lacquer Wedding Wooden Bucket with Lid and High Handle. This is a prime example of this type of wedding basket with good original red lacquer well refinished with a smooth and soft glow surface.It is in excellent condition. This basket with a simple yet elegant design was part of a bride's dowry, possibly used to store small personal objects. its high and graceful handle makes it easy to carry around. this basket is made of Good southern Ju wood, hand-carved in sections of curved wood cuts and pegged with wood pegs in between the sections to join to form the body of the basket. Late 19-early 20th century. Wooden objects with old red pigment made from the Organic mineral compound have long been treasured in the central coastal area in China near Ningbo, Shanghai and other cities, and can be found in several private museums. Antique Small Leather Stationery Box with Painted and Appliqued Leather Motives. It has the original old brass locking plates and hinges. Some breakage and losses on the leather and lacquer surface, as is. This old leather box is stretched over the wood and stitched at the corners and rims with folds. The cut and appliqued leather motives on the top of the box include a beautifully stylized Shou longevity character in the middle with two Double-Happiness characters on the two sides of the Shou.The three characters are enclosed with lotus and bat motives in a rectangular border with the leaf of the lotus and the wings of the bats extending to the key shaped ties-very unique, delicate, and auspicious. Motives were painted in now faded gilt color on its original black lacquered leather surface, making it very attractive. The front opening side of the box has dragon motive and some ribboned temple objects. Such narrow box is in the same shape as some stationary or scholar's box made of wood. It is likely used to store personal letter or paper work. Late 19t-early 20th century. Dimensions: 13" L x 7" W x 3 1/2" H

Antique Larger Finely Woven Oval Bamboo Open Basket with Carved Tall Handles. This beautiful open basket was applied with organic red color pigments made from the natural mineral compound. Such red color lasts even after 100 years and is as beautiful as when it was first created. The basket itself was finely woven with fine bamboo mesh created from large timber bamboo hand-split from larger sizes to its current fine and very thin sizes in order to weave the object. One handle was repaired. Otherwise, the body of the basket is in excellent condition. The wooden handles of the basket with red lacquer are further carved in a narrow vase shape reflecting ordinary people's desire in a culture that integrates harmony and peace into their home living through the art and daily objects created. Judging from the area where this basket came from, this basket might have been used as a bride's basket as a local tradition to contain personal objects for daily use. Late 19-early 20th century. Very Rare Antique Chinese Wooden Bucket with Liu-Li Bead on the Lid. Liu-Li is a special material material that came from a closed mine in China and is no longer avaialble. It is often referred to as "Peking glass". This material was also used in soem of the ancient rooftile pieces, especially in the blue glaze. Such material was likely rare and expensive during ancient China and only lucrative families could obtain such decorative material to use in the household objects. Bucket like this was often carved with pieces broader wood bands and further pegged in between the wooden bands before securing with brass metal bands outside. The lid has been repaired, othwerwise in good condition with old lacquer and patina. The bucket is fitted with the original old brass fitting as well. Late 19-early 20th century. Dimensions: 7 1/2" Diameter x 8 1/2" H
