Description
This intricately carved small antique chest is a bride's embroidery set for keeping the needles inside. The little round shape indented surface in the center above the drawer was used to contain a little water for helping to thread the silk through the needle. In ancient China, women were not encouraged to have schooling. A woman was very much judged in her skill in embroidery-it showed that she had proper upbringing.
