Description
Tthis lacquered and hand-carved old wooden case is for keeping a pair of glasses. The poem on the top is from Tang Dynasty poet Wang-Wei. It means " (I'm not lonely because..) The moon comes to shine on me". The bottom poem is from Tang Dynasty poet Wang Chang-Ling. It means " (If anyone asks about me, please say...) My heart is as pure as the crystal ice floating in the jade pot".

This kind of glass cases, many from the late Qing Dynasty, was also made with fabrics, crocodile skin, pewter, lacquer, wood, and other materials.
