This incredibly beautiful large size antique Tibetan silver prayer box inlaid with genuine Turquoise stone is 3” by 3” by 1/2” thick. One can see how the stones aged with patina over its bright and deep beautiful blue color of different shades. Prayer boxes were and are used by many different religions and cultures in the world. Old Tibetan prayer box originally was a religious ritual object and was worn on or tied with a (silver) chain as a personal identifiable spiritual and protective object. The inside of the box was often placed with a written prayer, diagram of a mantra, or a small image of a personal deity of the Tibetan religion. The box can come in many different designs or with many different shapes of symbols, such as this one in the shape of a Buddhist's eternal knot.

Tibet is known for its natural resources when it comes to stones. Many old Tibetan prayer boxes, jewelry, religious or art objects were often decorated with Turquoise and other stones as well, such as coral and amber, among others, on the silver or gold metal.
