(雕松鶴長青帶沁色白玉飾件) This is a beautiful rectangular shaped carved antique Chinese white jade plaque with wonderful russet color. The theme is a crane looking out from under a pine tree and rock. The carved lines are executed in bold and precise manner with great strength in a relieved style. The composition is simple with emphases on the pine tree and downward, creating a strong sense of solitude within a universe. The curious and sweet bird softens the similarly internal space under the rock that contains its own like an oasis with Ling-Zhi (靈芝) medicinal mushroom at the bottom foreground and a few spikes of bamboo coming out from the rock at the top of the bird. This thick plaque was part of a larger object, possibly wood. It is probably from the 18th century or older.
