Description
A rare 18th century brazier stand made of exotic Huanghuali hardwood with superb design and joinery. Such stand was used at a winter time in a small indoor area, such as a study room, or a bed room, by burning coals in a ceramic bowl that fitted on the top of the stand. The black stains that came from the smoke and coal is evident on the inside rim of this stand. Such stand was designed for dual functions and could be used as well at other time to hold a wash tub for washing.

The design of the five flat and rounded feet are joined together at the lower portion of the stand by a beautifully hand-crafted central cluster made of five rods joined in the form of an ice-ray lattice pattern forming a perfect cut-out design of a beaded five-petal plum blossom in the center that further secure all the feet.

Such stand executed in a tight and perfect construction shows the incredible craftsmanship, fine mannerism, and the exquisite design of the Ming and Ming style furniture.
