Description
9540 (一套明代雕花鳥吉祥格子窗) These three panels belong to a set of four very beautiful 17th century Chinese lattice screens that were used as windows. The photos were taken with the panels already hung on the wall.

The latticework on these windows is mostly composed of sectional wood doles that connect each other with built-in pegs. The medallion with the center part is hand-carved out of one piece of wood with a bird in a different gesture perching on a plum blossom for each window. These lovely screens include many hand-carved ornaments in between the lattice work with different auspicious floral designs as well as other geometric shapes such as double circles and double faceted triangular squares. These ornaments also work to strengthen the structure of the latticework.

Each screen measures 38 ¼” H x 15 3/4” W x 2” D. The fourth panel is available but is broken and will need a repair.
