Pair of rare larger size antique lattice windows with vase motif and inlaid with rare blue peking glass; 19th century.
Vase motif was used often in Chinese woodwork as an auspicious symbol to bless a home because the pronunciation of "vase (ping)" is the same as "peace" or "harmony" in Chinese language.
Peking glass was rarely used on architectural items other than perhaps for the imperial buildings or high elite's residences during ancient China. Few examples are available. The mine for the material for Peking glass has long been sealed by the Chinese government.
