Description
This Northern Very Rare Size Antique Ming Style Gilt-Painted Two-Door Red Lacquer Cabinet has very thick lacquer both in red and in black (top). It is elaborately gilt-painted with various figures and a variety of vegetation patterns. The inside has a replaced wooden shelf. The cabinet is constructed with two protruding head style, with the door posts inserted under the thick top frame from the top and into a horizontal bar across the bottom of the doors. Such construction puts this cabinet to possibly 120-150 years old or so for its dating. This style of cabinet evolved from the 17th century with varied joinery and construction, but usually they are fairly large size cabinets. This is the first time we have seen one this petite! Great to use as an end table or a bedside table.
