Description
Beautifully carved antique bed fragment from the entrance of a canopy bed. This piece is intricately carved with a fisherman coming back from fishing, holding a fish basket and a stick with a caught fish on it, meeting and chatting under a tree with a young working man carrying a stick with a tassel as well. Both appeared to be standing on padded wood boards or a bridge. The bottom of the carving is carved with two feet and a design from an incense burner, while one side of the carving is carved with a scroll design with plum blossoms and bamboo.

The wood has been stripped and looks quite dense and slightly purple with straight lines for its grain. The wood also smells slightly fragrant. This carving might be made of Purple Nan-Mu (紫楠), also called Fragrant Nan-Mu (香楠) which is an excellent wood material from China.
